After extensive testing and customer feedback and bringing AI Overview to the U.S. and in Search Labs globally, Google has expanded its AI overviews to six new countries: the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil. The new markets will get local language support as well.

The search giant has stated in a blog post that people using AI overviews use search more and are more satisfied with their results. Also, people requiring help with complex topics are engaging more and returning for AI Overviews, with enhanced engagement from users aged 18–24 when they use Search with AI Overviews.

The blog post further read, “AI Overviews in Search are rooted in our core quality and safety systems, which we have been refining for decades to deliver reliable and high-quality information. We’ll be rolling this expansion out gradually over the course of several weeks, with a focus on maintaining Search's high bar for information quality.”

In addition, Google is reimagining the display of its source material links. It is adding a view on the upper right-hand side showing icons of sites above the AI overview on both desktop and mobile.

Further, the company is testing a way to display relevant links within the text of AI overviews in an effort to drive more traffic to external sites.

Pertaining to India, Google has added some features to AI overviews with this rollout. The company had previously tested a feature to let users toggle between Hindi and English results without leaving the page, which will now also be part of AI overviews.

Furthermore, the company will also enable users in India to hear responses generated by tapping the “Listen” button.
