Google has begun construction of a large-scale artificial intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, marking a significant expansion of its digital infrastructure investments in India.
The project, part of a $15 billion investment plan spanning 2026 to 2030, aims to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem to support the country’s ambitions of becoming a global technology leader.
Developed in partnership with AdaniConnex and Nxtra by Airtel, the hub will include multiple data center campuses designed to support advanced AI workloads and enable businesses and researchers to scale AI-driven solutions.
The facility is expected to deliver high-performance, low-latency computing services, supporting sectors ranging from enterprise innovation to scientific research. Alongside infrastructure development, the project includes plans to expand fiber connectivity and integrate clean energy into operations.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian described the initiative as a turning point for the country’s AI ecosystem.
“Today’s groundbreaking is a powerful realization of our shared vision with the Indian government and an inflection point for the country’s AI-native future,” he said.
Beyond infrastructure, the company is also launching community-focused programs in the region, including workforce training, digital literacy initiatives, and support for local enterprises.
