The European Space Agency (ESA) is set to revolutionize its AI capabilities with the development of a cutting-edge enterprise AI platform designed to rapidly build and deploy generative AI (GenAI) agents and other AI-powered solutions.
Dubbed “Ask ESA,” the new platform runs on NVIDIA and is designed and built by DXC. It is built on Mistral AI’s advanced large language models (LLMs) and will enhance ESA’s ability to efficiently process and analyze vast volumes of documents and data.
This initiative, spearheaded by Francois Margottin, Head of Application Services at ESA, is part of the agency’s broader commitment to harnessing AI for space research and innovation.
“Ask ESA” is designed to be modular, scalable, and compliant with ESA’s stringent AI and data policies, ensuring strong data privacy protections while maximizing AI’s potential within a secure environment.
The platform will empower ESA to deploy AI applications across various departments, streamlining operations and enhancing decision-making processes.
The development of “Ask ESA” builds on ESA’s long-standing commitment to innovation and its new 15-year partnership with DXC Technology, the firm responsible for constructing the platform using NVIDIA-powered infrastructure.
“By working with DXC and applying agile methodology, we quickly evolved from a prototype experiment to corporate production maturity with a robust and scalable solution,” said Charles Antoine Poncet, IT Portfolio Manager & AI Leader at ESA.
