Elon Musk took to X  to announce that xAI has begun training on the “most powerful AI training cluster in the world.” He acknowledged the team work of xAI, X, Nvidia, and other supporting companies that started training the Memphis Supercluster.

Further, Musk shared that the cluster consists of 100,000 liquid-cooled H100 graphics processing units (GPUs) in a single RDMA fabric or Remote Direct Memory Access fabric, making it the most powerful AI training cluster.

Musk noted that it would be a significant advantage in building “the world’s most powerful AI by every metric” by December 2024 in Memphis.

News outlet Wreg has stated that the supercluster is located in the southwestern part of the city. However, xAI will be required to sign a contract with the local utility, the Tennessee Valley Authority, to provide electricity to projects in excess of 100 megawatts.
