(US and Canada) Christopher Stephens, Chief Data Officer in Residence at Insight Partners and Adjunct Faculty at CMU Heinz College, speaks with Robert Lutton, Vice President at Sandhill Consultants and Editorial Board Vice Chair at CDO Magazine, in a video interview about his career trajectory, his current role, the application of AI in business, and the importance of knowledge graphs.

Stephens advises portfolio companies at Insight Partners, a leading VC firm in the technology and data space. At Carnegie Mellon, he is involved with the Chief Data Officer Certification program and the US government to teach leaders the principles of data-driven transformation and leadership.

When asked how organizations should leverage knowledge graphs to improve data management and decision-making capabilities, Stephens says that a lot of the value creation will be in adjacency to the AI capabilities of an organization in the coming years. So, organizations need to find ways to organize data to allow AI models to discover and map the relationships in the data and connect them to the desired outcomes.

Further, Stephens says that employing AI in businesses requires organizing the data. For example, AI models getting intelligence out of customer service interactions stored in textual form will require organizing and mapping the data. A knowledge graph can come into play in scenarios like these. He adds that updating and keeping the knowledge graph accurate depends on the operating models.

CDO Magazine appreciates Christopher Stephens for sharing his insights and data success stories with our global community.
