Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai confirmed the company is partnering with Apple to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into iPhones sold in China.
Speaking at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Tsai revealed that Apple selected Alibaba after evaluating multiple Chinese firms.
“Apple talked to a number of companies in China, and in the end, they chose to do business with us. They want to use our AI to power their phones,” Tsai reportedly said.
The collaboration may also provide Apple with a local partner to navigate China’s regulatory landscape and tailor AI solutions to local needs, according to Tsai.
