AI Singapore (AISG) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding to expand access to AI education in six pilot countries across Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands and the Caribbean.
The partnership will scale AISG’s AI4Good initiative, originally launched in 2024, to a global level. It aims to tackle the digital divide by providing underserved communities with the tools and knowledge needed to participate in the digital economy.
The program focuses on five core areas: boosting AI literacy, training educators, fostering inclusive learning, promoting ethical AI use, and strengthening institutions to sustain long-term impact.
Marginalized groups will gain vital skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and civic participation, while educators will receive resources to integrate AI into various learning environments.
“AI offers many possibilities,” said Koo Sengmeng, Director of AI Talent Development at AISG. “To fully realize its benefits, we must pursue a more inclusive and sustainable global society.”
UNDP’s Chief Digital uOfficer, Robert Opp, emphasized the initiative’s importance: “To ensure everyone can benefit from AI’s transformation, our efforts must be rooted in equity and sustainability.”
