Apple has partnered with Shutterstock to enhance its AI capabilities, aiming to integrate Shutterstock's extensive library, valued at up to $50 million, into its AI models for improved device performance.

This collaboration involves licensing millions of images, videos, and audio files from Shutterstock to advance Apple's AI large language models (LLMs), particularly focusing on enhancing image recognition and editing functionalities on iPhones.

Additionally, this partnership may lead to enhancements in voice recognition and transcription features for iPhone users.

Previously, OpenAI also expanded its partnership with Shutterstock through a new six-year agreement as a provider of high-quality training data for OpenAI models, especially DALL.E.

Apple is also engaged in negotiations with publishers such as Conde Nast IAC and NBC to leverage their content for AI model training, further emphasizing its commitment to incorporating varied data sources into its AI development process.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, has hinted at significant updates centered on AI features at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). These updates are expected to showcase the latest advancements aimed at elevating the Apple ecosystem through improved AI functionalities.
