STRADVISION Welcomes Jack Sim as new Chief Technology Officer

(Asia) STRADVISION, an AI-based vision perception technology company, recently announced the appointment of Jack Sim as Chief Technology Officer. Sim will lead STRADVISION’s talented team behind the tech while working directly with fellow executives to implement and integrate their award-winning SVNet software across various automotive OEM and Tier-1 partners.

With over a decade of software engineering experience, Sim’s prior work includes serving as a staff software engineer at Google Research and Waymo and contributing to academia through various activities. During his tenure at Google, Sim led a team responsible for developing a technology that provides fine-grained object recognition capability for a large-scale image database. During his time at Waymo, Sim was responsible for creating a machine learning (ML) model for the company’s autonomous truck product line.

Sim is also recognized as a world expert in the application of deep-learning visual features. The public dataset (Google Landmarks), developed by Sim and his team, is regarded as one of the standard benchmarks in the large-scale visual recognition field.

Sim studied at Seoul National University, and his postgraduate education resulted in a Master’s Degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

“STRADVISION has had a real impact within the autonomous vehicle space, and the company’s long-term ambition to accelerate innovation toward software-defined vehicles in the automotive industry was a major draw for me to join their team,” Sim says. “I look forward to being part of that vision and helping STRADVISION continue its pursuit of the highest and safest levels of perception technology.”

CEO Junhwan Kim says STRADVISION has grown significantly in the last few years. The company is at a point where it is necessary to introduce a level 4 autonomous driving system to the mass production stage and develop general-purpose technology beyond the automotive area. Sim’s strong track record in computer vision technology innovation and ML model development will contribute significantly to the company realizing its future purpose, “Vision AI for All,” Kim notes.
