Parag Agrawal, Twitter's CTO, named the company's new CEO

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Twitter Inc. promoted its technology leader, Parag Agrawal, to succeed CEO Jack Dorsey. Agrawal began his career at Twitter as a software developer and has remained with the firm for almost a decade. In October 2017, he was appointed as chief technology officer (CTO).

Agrawal earned a Ph.D. from Stanford University after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Parag Agrawal joined Twitter in 2011 and has been serving as the company's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since October 2017. As CTO, he has been in charge of the company's technological strategy, spearheading efforts to increase development velocity while also expanding the status of Machine Learning throughout the organization. Prior to being named CTO, Parag rose to the position of Twitter's first Distinguished Engineer for his work in revenue and consumer engineering, particularly his contribution to the re-acceleration of audience growth in 2016 and 2017.

Prior to joining Twitter, Agrawal worked on large-scale data management research at Microsoft Research, Yahoo! Research, and AT&T Labs.
