Hong Gao, Executive Director, Enterprise Data Management & Analytics of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, Joins CDO Magazine Global Editorial Board

Hong is a seasoned Information Technology leader at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, a well-known multi-line P&C and Life Insurance Company. She is a highly skilled professional focusing on the data domain. She brings over 20 years of experience in IT Strategy, Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, Data Management, and Business Process Re-engineering. Hong earned her master’s degrees in computer science and Education at Ball State University.

Hong joined Indiana Farm Bureau in June 2014. She is responsible for the Business Analytics, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Database Administration teams.  She jump-started the company’s data analytic and machine learning efforts and has been instrumental in spotlighting the company’s data to illustrate performance, trends, and opportunities. Hong has assembled a highly skilled team to help lead Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance in a world increasingly driven by understanding and utilizing data. In addition, Hong has transformed a traditional DBA team from operating in a reactive mode to a more proactive fashion focused on enhancing database and environment performance efficiency to ensure system high availability.

Hong also serves as an adjunct professor at Indiana-University Purdue-University, Indianapolis campus, for the School of Engineering, teaching an advanced business intelligence course and infusing real-life industry experiences into a foundational theory curriculum.
