(US and Canada) The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) has announced the addition of artificial intelligence company Passio, Inc. to its Lifestyle Medicine Corporate Roundtable, a group of thought leaders and industry professionals who explore effective clinical innovations, activate marketing strategies, accelerate reimbursement and policy adoption, and pursue research and demonstrations of lifestyle medicine in practice. ACLM launched its Corporate Roundtable in 2016 and it now includes nearly 50 active member organizations in the lifestyle medicine ecosystem.

Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse such conditions. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for these conditions.

Passio, headquartered in Menlo Park, CA, has developed a pioneering food recognition and nutrition tracking technology powered by artificial intelligence (AI). It is advancing the field of AI and is building novel AI-in-health care solutions that can help with treatment of chronic diseases and personalized nutrition coaching. Solutions powered by Passio's Nutrition-AI technology are designed to help people live better lives by making nutrition tracking effortless and by taking nutrition advice to the next level with the power of artificial intelligence. Passio is a spinoff of the Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) and Passio's Nutrition-AI technology is rooted in over a decade of research from SRI, including research funded by the NIH.

Nutrition AI technology is available via two easy-to-use products: a software development kit (SDK) designed for integration into enterprise apps and a white label application designed to be used by providers without the need for integration.

Over the past two years Nutrition-AI SDK has earned the trust of the world's leading companies in health care and fitness including MyFitnessPal, Vivante Health, Sharecare and Simple Life.

Passio's easy-to-use Provider White Label Application is designed to help patients log meals without typing, measure food amounts using smartphone cameras, see real-time nutritional insights and select meal plans optimal for their overall health and wellness journey. By unleashing the power of nutrition data, it provides doctors, coaches and other health care professionals with a unique tool for engaging and supporting patients, improving patient outcomes and increasing revenue.

"Passio is on a mission to improve long-term health outcomes by providing nutritional insights," said Passio CEO and Founder Dmitriy Richard Starson, PhD. "We deeply resonate with ACLM's mission to advance evidence-based lifestyle medicine to prevent, treat and reverse disease. We believe that AI tools pioneered by Passio can massively accelerate this mission and that together we can enhance human lives at scale."

"Passio is able to provide nutritional insights that can help providers treat chronic disease and enhance their nutrition counseling services," said ACLM President Cate Collings, MD, FACC, MS, DipABLM. "Passio's technology also can uniquely help support patients in reaching their nutritional goals. We welcome Passio to our Corporate Roundtable."
