VIDEO | Avaneer Health, Sr. VP Technology Operations: Blockchain Allows Efficient Analytics Operations

(US and Canada) Dan Sanders, Senior VP, Technology Operations, Security and Service Delivery, Avaneer Health, speaks with Della Shea, Chief Data Governance & Privacy Officer, Symcor, about transforming culture and mindset through digital transformation, the role of blockchain, and the opportunities in health care to use data analytics to drive outcomes.

Sanders states that adoption at scale is an issue that all technologies face. With digital transformation, it doubled due to the paradigm shift that happens to people's thought processes. He maintains that technology enables people's desire to do what they want.

Being a health care consumer, Sanders urges stakeholders to let go of the traditional competitive fears to focus on transparency, shared goals, process, and collaboration at scale. He affirms that the drive to do better together has led to adopting blockchain and other collaborative technologies.

Sanders shares that the drive to harness organizational growth builds interest in people. He asserts that organizations must deal with issues from the horizontal problem perspective, not the vertical one. He urges organizations to focus on the disjointed processes, and the massive use cases will eventually take care of themselves.

Sanders further points out that it all boils down to having data that is valuable to the organization. With a network powered by blockchain, organizations have the mechanism to know the whereabouts of data in the ecosystem and have enhanced accessibility, he affirms.

Unlike traditional operating methods, a blockchain-enabled network allows efficient analytics operations. It also enhances data transparency and the flow of insights fundamental for transforming the health care industry. The faster insights acquired from points across the country, the swifter the information gets to the physicians for care delivery, Sanders says.

Next, he advises leaders to shift attention toward automating processes that require high manual intervention and transform them from the doer's perspective. Sanders believes that it is crucial to communicate with performing individuals to understand how automation can help reduce their engagement in day-to-day decisions. He emphasizes that efficiency lies in supporting individuals' speed to outcomes.

In conclusion, he states that technology is not a silver bullet that replaces solutions to all problems. In healthcare, innovation and transformation happen when individuals across the organization work together to find the blockers and automate them at scale through technologies like blockchain, states Sanders.
