VIDEO | Molex CDO: If You Have No Data Efficacy, You Have No Use Case

(US and Canada) Mike Giresi, Chief Digital Officer, Molex, speaks with Derek Strauss, Chairman, Gavroshe, about Molex's approach to organizational change management, transformation through the amalgamation of data analytics with organizational change management, and advising new CDOs en route to success.

Giresi shares that Molex has a team dedicated to organizational change management. He adds that data helps people understand why an organizational cultural shift is required and their roles in the transformation.

Giresi mentions that the availability of information is critical for customers to consume what they want. He asserts that a significant change in the operating model is required for that to happen. He then reveals that the areas that lack optimization in executing customer support cross-functionally are the ones that stall organizational performance.

With many roles aiding outcomes, data is an underpinning asset that helps customers determine answers to the questions, says Giresi. Accordingly, Molex enabled data visibility for people to connect better. For example, creating an SKU number impacts the customer experience.

He further states that AI is great when used effectively in a use case. But without data efficacy, there is no history or use case to apply AI. Therefore, Molex focuses on defining data as an asset, how behavior implicates outcome and working differently to improve that.

Sharing advice for new CDOs, Giresi emphasizes establishing vision with leadership. The CDO must be aligned with leadership in a traditional business to bring a program forward. With the right resources, CDOs can have clarity about outcomes. He explains that in a digitally mature business, the leadership knows how to operate digitally, and a CDO can help accentuate capabilities.

In conclusion, Giresi states that overstating accomplishments fuelled by the desire to add value is menacing. Small and meaningful improvements build foundations for massive transformations, and maintaining solid relationships with the leadership yields positive outcomes.
