The Kenwood by Senior Star Honors Veterans

The Kenwood by Senior Star, a luxury upscale retirement and assisted living community hosted a Veterans Honor Luncheon on Monday, March 21st to show appreciation to its residents who have served our country. All residents of The Kenwood by Senior Star were invited to join the program. Nearly 70 of its occupants are military veterans with half representing WWll, followed by Korea and Vietnam.  Lunch was served followed by a program and some special guests in attendance. Elaine Rogers, president and CEO of United Service Organizations (USO) of Metropolitan Washington who recently returned from a tour in Iraq served as a guest speaker along with Stephen Lee, Co-Chair of the USO Tribute Cincinnati Event, one of the USO’s largest fundraisers in the nation.

“We we so excited at this opportunity to invite all our residents in honoring our veterans,” said Richard Lindner, manager of special projects at Kenwood by Senior Star. “We owe them a great debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifices and want to express our appreciation.”

Lindner, a Vietnam Era veteran served in the during the time frame of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy.

Thomas Rotz, executive director at The Kenwood by Senior Star, is passionate about providing exceptional service and memory care to its residents and their families each and every day. “We are dedicated to providing the highest level of personalized services and strive to create outstanding experiences for our residents.  We invited the world renowned Cincinnati artist, John Ruthven, to show his works and share stories of his own military service in WWll.”

Ruthven donated proceeds to the USO from artwork sold on Monday. Rotz, who is very involved with the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati adds, “Many of our residents have extensive art collections of their own including works by Mr. Ruthven. We just wanted to provide an enhanced and memorable encounter for them.”
